About
I am a therapist who provides evidence-based care to adults and adolescents residing in New York, Connecticut, and Virginia. I see patients virtually and in-person at my office in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
My expertise lies in treating emotion dysregulation, life transitions, anxiety, perfectionism, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, depressive symptoms, and trauma. I help people manage current stressors, build self-confidence, make wanted changes, cultivate flexibility, and deepen compassion and understanding of themselves in the process. My approach is collaborative, warm, and emotion-focused. I work with patients to identify their specific goals and values, and use both to guide our work together.
I received my undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and graduated with my Masters in Social Work from Columbia University. At Columbia, I participated in the school’s intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training program under Andre Ivanoff, Ph.D. This is where I was first introduced to the impact behavioral strategies and mindfulness techniques can have on people’s lives.
In addition to DBT, I provide several other evidence-based treatments. These include: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) to treat OCD and anxiety-related disorders, Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)–a parent-based program to treat child OCD and anxiety-related disorders–and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure Protocol (DBT-PE) to treat PTSD and trauma. I also weave in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Radically-Open DBT (RO-DBT) strategies to further help individuals explore different ways of thinking and being in the world.
Before becoming a private practitioner, I worked for several years at Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Associates, a group practice specializing in the behavioral therapies I continue to implement today. I also have post-graduate training in ERP through the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania, SPACE under Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center, and DBT-PE under Dr. Melanie Harned, the developer of the protocol.
Seeking professional help for your mental health takes courage, and can be so rewarding. It is an honor to work alongside patients as they explore new ways of navigating and understanding the challenges present in their lives.
